KENTISH TOWN ROAD

Location: Kentish Town, London
Based on the site of the former public house the Castle Tavern, DWA was appointed for RIBA stages 1-3, to undertake proposals for a mixed use scheme of 8 private residential units and 1500sqm of commercial space, situated on the corner of Castle Road and Kentish Town Road.
Working closely with planning officers and local interest groups, the scheme retained the former public house’s elevation, with an additional extension to the rear of the existing on Castle Road.
The residential units were planned to meet the tight constraints of urban development whilst meeting London Housing Design Guide standards, as well as providing ideal city living. The design strived to meet the sustainability targets of Camden Council, allowing for large bike stores, utilizing PV panels and air source heat pumps.
